At first, SPAM was an unscrupulous way of advertising products and/or services, similar to the junk mail that you get in your mailbox at home. But today, unsolicited e-mail could contain viruses, worms, trojan horses, spyware, and other malicious code that could compromise your PC's security and/or your privacy.

We at Neptune take a very dim view of SPAM and spammers, and think even less of those that want to violate your privacy and security. As a result, Neptune has pioneered several anti-SPAM strategies over the past decade.

Our main criteria in developing anti-SPAM, anti-virus solutions was that the solution must be server based. The goal was that the user should not have to install anything special on the workstation. In the past few years, our worst fears have come true: the use of Spamming techniques to act as a delivery mechanism for spreading viruses and malware which, if opened by unsuspecting users, could turn their PC into zombies (PCs that can be remotely controlled by nefarious zombie-masters).

Unfortunately, operating systems such as Microsoft Windows (98, 2000, XP, etc.) have several security flaws that can be easily exploited by zombie-masters, cyber criminals, and even cyber-terrorists. This is the main reason why we are so passionate about keeping SPAM out of your mailbox.
